Saturation Diving Pressure Wraith Counter Guide

Recognize a Pressure Wraith encounter, reduce exposure, protect the crew, and reach a safer route.

How do you counter the Pressure Wraith?

Stabilize the dive before attempting a direct counter. Stop mining, regroup the crew, confirm suit and oxygen status, reduce unnecessary light and sound, and move toward the last stable landmark. The encounter becomes harder when panic movement separates players or consumes reserve.

This page does not invent a damage multiplier or guaranteed weakness. It focuses on route and system actions that keep the crew alive.

What are the first warning signs?

Treat unexplained pressure stress, a changing contact, or a disrupted route as a reason to hold and verify. Spotter reports direction and trend, Engineer checks pressure, and Captain names the exit lane.

Does light or sound matter?

Use conservative light and sound discipline until the current encounter proves what attracts it. Avoid constant sonar, unnecessary tool use, and four lights sweeping different directions. The Spotter guide explains controlled contact checks.

What is the Pressure Wraith’s weakness?

Its reliable strategic weakness is losing control of the route when the crew retreats early and together. Do not assume a weapon or damage type without current confirmation. Preserve pressure, break exposure, use terrain, and refuse a long chase.

Which equipment helps?

Choose a suit with positive pressure margin and enough oxygen for a forced detour. Compare live values in the suits and tanks chart and record a retreat threshold before deployment.

Where should the crew practice?

Practice the callout and retreat sequence before Abyssal Hollow or Black Mound. Review Abyssal Hollow and Black Mound before combining the encounter with deeper hazards.
